Wang Yi, member of the Political Bureau of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China (CPC) and Minister of Foreign Affairs of China, said at a press conference on the sidelines of the 2nd Session of the 14th National People’s Congress this morning that he hopes the qualified joint construction of the Belt and Road Initiative will be a driving force for the common development of countries.
Wang said the Belt and Road Initiative put forward by Chinese President Xi Jinping has yielded fruitful results over the years, and China is ready to launch the initiative’s second golden decade by carrying forward the Silk Road spirit with all stakeholders.
Wang stressed that they will accelerate the establishment of an extensive network of connections between global infrastructure facilities under the Belt and Road, strengthen the integration of the initiative with the development strategies of all countries in the world, and intensively promote cultural dialogue among countries.
Wang said China does not seek modernisation based on its own development alone, and hopes the Belt and Road will be a driving force to contribute to the common development of countries through qualified co-construction and a tool to accelerate global modernisation.
