Newly released US Department of Justice documents, containing email correspondence between Jeffrey Epstein and his associates, reveal that the convicted sex trafficker provided a New York apartment for former Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Barak.

According to records obtained by Haaretz, Barak was a regular resident of the property. The correspondence, dating from 2015 to 2019, details hundreds of visits and specific accommodation arrangements for the former statesman.

Details emerge on the residence dubbed “Ehud’s apartment”

Ehud Barak served as Israel’s prime minister and defense minister until leaving office in 2013. The released emails show that Barak’s wife, Nili, maintained frequent contact with Epstein’s service team and personal assistants.

Staff referred to the unit as “Ehud’s apartment” in internal communications. Records indicate that Nili made various personal requests for the residence, including grocery shopping and the installation of high-speed internet.

The documents further note that Epstein owned several other units within the same building, which he reportedly used to house underage victims trafficked from various countries.

The couple occasionally stayed at the apartment for months at a time. In one message, Nili described the experience, writing: “Being in an apartment is a completely different feeling. We are living like New Yorkers.” The correspondence continued until just two weeks before Epstein’s second arrest in 2019.

FBI informant claims Epstein was trained as a spy

Beyond the residential arrangements, a 2020 FBI document surfaced during federal investigations, raising more serious allegations regarding the nature of the relationship between Epstein and Barak.

According to a statement from an FBI informant included in the document, Epstein was allegedly “trained as a spy” by Ehud Barak.

The informant claimed that Epstein operated on behalf of Israeli intelligence and alleged that his attorney, Alan Dershowitz, had confirmed this arrangement to officials at the time.

In a statement issued by Barak’s office, the former prime minister acknowledged staying in an apartment owned by Epstein during a period when he held no official public position. The statement added: “Looking back, Barak regrets having been associated with Epstein.”

Barak has previously maintained that he was never present with Epstein in any inappropriate settings. However, Virginia Giuffre, one of Epstein’s most prominent victims, accused Barak of sexual assault in court records.
