Gaza government reports over 700 Israeli ceasefire violations resulting in 400 deaths
The Gaza government has announced that Israel has violated the ceasefire more than 700 times. The Gaza Government Media Office reported that the Israeli army has violated the ceasefire agreement, in effect since October, at least 738 times. According to data published by the office, these violations have resulted in the deaths of approximately 400 Palestinians.
The statement emphasized that Israeli forces systematically violated international humanitarian law during the 60-day period between October 10, 2023, and December 8, 2023.
Official bodies recorded a total of 738 violations during this timeframe. At least 386 civilians were killed in attacks involving airstrikes, artillery fire, and firearms.
The majority of those killed were women, children, and the elderly. The number of Palestinians injured in the attacks has reached one thousand.
Attacks on civilian settlements continue
Data from the Media Office revealed that the Israeli army carried out 205 armed attacks targeting civilians.
Military units attempted to infiltrate residential areas 37 times and conducted 358 bombardments targeting civilians and their homes.
Army forces also demolished buildings and infrastructure facilities 138 times. The destruction in the region highlights the extent of ongoing military activity despite the ceasefire.
Humanitarian aid entry falls short of commitments
The amount of fuel and aid reaching Gaza has remained far below the level stipulated in the agreement.
According to the ceasefire terms, 500 trucks should have entered the city daily, but the average number was only 226. This figure corresponds to approximately 10% of the agreed-upon amount.
The report stated that of the 36,000 trucks that were supposed to enter Gaza during the 60-day period, only 13,511 were able to do so.
In a statement in November, the Government Media Office announced that the Tel Aviv administration had only allowed 28% of the required aid into the Strip.
Among the blocked aid is essential equipment urgently needed for rubble removal. The United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) announced that there are currently 68 million tons of debris in Gaza due to the war and infrastructure destruction carried out by Israel.
The scale of the destruction poses the biggest obstacle to the city’s reconstruction.
Hamas demands implementation of current conditions for negotiations
Hamas has stated that if Israel continues to violate the first phase of the agreement, negotiations for the implementation of the second phase cannot proceed.
The organization argues that for the process to move forward, the current commitments must first be met on the ground.
Husam Badran, a senior Hamas official, said in a statement on September 9: “The occupation has not fulfilled any of its basic obligations from the first phase.” Badran continued:
“Israel still keeps the Rafah border crossing closed, prevents the entry of tents and caravans, reduces humanitarian aid, and continues its crimes of killing and destruction within the ‘yellow line.’ These practices are a continuation of the aggression that was supposed to stop immediately after the agreement began.”
