Google outage disrupts services across Eastern Europe
A major outage affected access to Google services in many Eastern European countries.
Users reported difficulties reaching Google’s core services, including YouTube, Google Maps, Gmail, and Google Search.
Millions of users, especially in Bulgaria as well as Türkiye, Greece, and neighboring countries, stated on social media platforms and complaint sites such as downdetector.com that they could not access Google services.
The issue, which has continued uninterrupted since the early morning hours, has negatively affected both daily life and business workflows.
YouTube and Google Maps became inaccessible
YouTube was among the services most affected by the outage. Users reported encountering error messages or endless loading screens while trying to watch videos.
Similar problems were experienced on both desktop and mobile applications.
Google Maps users said they could not access map data, conduct location searches, or get directions. As a result, many people trying to plan trips and transportation were left stranded.
Problems also appeared in Google Search and Gmail
Significant issues were also observed in Google’s core search engine. Many users reported that their queries did not return results or that they received error messages.
Some Gmail users said they faced difficulties sending and receiving emails, though this issue was more limited compared to other Google services.
Access to files and documents through Google Drive was also affected. Users reported being unable to reach documents stored in the cloud.
Server-related 5xx error messages stood out
The most common error reported during the outage was the “5xx server error.”
Such errors indicated that the problem originated not from users’ internet connections but directly from Google’s servers.
