Hundreds of Britons seek to move to Russia, citing ‘woke ideology’

Hundreds of British citizens are reportedly seeking to settle in Russia due to dissatisfaction with the cultural and political environment in their home country.

According to the Daily Star, these individuals cite the UK’s excessive adherence to ‘woke ideology’ as their reason.

The report states that a similar trend is observed in other Western countries, with thousands of people applying for a special visa category offered by Russia.

More than 2,000 Westerners have applied for visas

Russia’s Ministry of Internal Affairs announced that 2,275 Western citizens have applied for the ‘shared values visa’ program, which was implemented in August of last year.

Philip Hutchinson, a representative for Moscow Connect, a company that assists foreigners in settling in Russia, stated that they receive 50 to 80 inquiries per week from the UK alone.

Hutchinson commented, “There are many people who are dissatisfied with the direction the country is heading. Taxes are constantly increasing, and all this money is being given to Ukraine.”

“I don’t want my son to be influenced in this way”

Philip Port from Burnley, England, argued that living in Russia is a better option. “I love Russia. There is no crime, the streets are clean, and the country is developed,” Port said.

While stating his support for gay rights, Port added, “However, I am against these topics being taught to children in schools. I have a seven-year-old son, and I don’t want him to be influenced in this way.”

The Financial Times previously reported that many individuals from Western countries were moving to Russia due to their commitment to ‘traditional values’ and conflicts with the cultural norms in their home countries.

An example of this trend is German chef Maksim Jitnikov, who moved with his family from Essen, Germany, to Russia’s Vladimir region and obtained Russian citizenship.

Jitnikov stated that they made this decision because they do not embrace the values becoming widespread in Europe.

Russian spy ship targeted our pilots, the UK claims

As these developments unfold, diplomatic tensions between the UK and Russia are also escalating. Yesterday, UK Defence Secretary John Healey announced that a Russian spy ship targeted Royal Air Force pilots with laser beams near the border of British waters.

Speaking at a press conference at Downing Street, Healey stated:

“Currently, a Russian spy ship named Yantar is located north of Scotland, on the border of British waters. This vessel is designed to gather intelligence and map undersea cables. A Royal Navy frigate and RAF aircraft have been assigned to monitor the ship’s every move. During this time, the Yantar aimed a laser at our pilots. This action is extremely dangerous.”

Secretary Healey claimed this was the vessel’s second entry into British waters this year, adding, “My message to Russia and Putin is this: We see you, we know what you are doing, and if the Yantar moves south this week, we are ready.”
