The Israeli army has killed 20 people and injured at least 155 others by opening fire on people waiting for humanitarian aid at Kuwait Junction in Gaza, where it has been causing hunger and famine since 7 October 2023 by continuing attacks and preventing aid from entering.
A statement released by the Palestinian Ministry of Health in Gaza said that the Israeli army targeted Palestinians waiting for humanitarian aid at Kuwait Junction in the Gaza Strip. The statement said that 20 people were killed and 155 injured in the attack, and stressed that the incidents showed Israel’s pre-planned intention to commit a new and horrific massacre.
The statement said that the process of evacuating the dead and wounded was continuing despite the difficult situation on the ground at Kuwait Junction, noting that the death toll could rise due to the serious health conditions of the wounded who reached hospitals.
Ismail al-Sawabite, director general of the government’s media office in Gaza, told AA: “The occupation has been targeting those waiting for aid for 20 days in a row in the shadow of the world’s inability to prevent the crimes being committed here.”
Sevabite pointed out that the Israeli army knows the locations of those waiting for aid very well and deliberately targets civilians, explaining that Israel targeted those waiting for aid at Kuwait Junction with tank and helicopter fire.
Eyewitnesses reported that the Israeli army targeted Palestinians waiting for aid in Gaza City with artillery, helicopter and unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) fire.
Eyewitnesses reported that a house near the Kuwait Junction, which had been hit earlier but where people were taking shelter, was also shelled during the attack, noting that dozens of people inside the house were killed and wounded.
Call for aid by land
Mahmoud Basal, the spokesman for the Civil Defence in the Gaza Strip, said in a written statement, “The occupation forces continue to massacre innocent civilians who are affected by the hunger crisis in the north of the Gaza Strip and are waiting for aid.
Basal called on international and UN agencies to stop Israel’s massacres of innocent civilians and demanded that aid be allowed through the border crossings to prevent further loss of life due to Israeli attacks on civilians and starvation.
Since 7 October, 31,341 Palestinians, including at least 13,500 children and 9,000 women, have been killed and 73,134 injured in Israel’s attacks on Gaza.
