Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Wang Wenbin has condemned recent actions taken by the United States, alleging they undermine fair competition principles and international trade rules.

In response to a bill adopted by the US House of Representatives, Wang stated that invoking ‘national security’ to target foreign competitive companies is unjust and akin to ‘robbers’ logic.’ He criticized the US for attempting to unfairly seize assets from other nations under the guise of national security concerns.

Wang pointed to the handling of TikTok as a clear example of US hypocrisy, suggesting that it reveals whether US policies serve global interests or solely prioritize American ones. He characterized the US approach to TikTok as bullying and stated that China welcomes foreign platforms and services as long as they comply with Chinese laws, contrasting it with what he perceives as US aggression.

Addressing data privacy and security concerns, Wang emphasized China’s commitment to protecting such information and denied allegations of Chinese government involvement in data collection abroad. He accused the US of suppressing TikTok without evidence of national security threats, describing it as an abuse of state power.

These remarks underscore growing tensions between the US and China over trade, technology, and national security issues, signaling potential challenges ahead for bilateral relations.
