The aid delivery was carried out in coordination with the US and the Syrian government. According to the UN Migration Agency, the Damascus government is attempting to evacuate Bedouins from Suwayda, where more than 128,000 people have been displaced.<\/p>\n<p data-spacing=\"double\">According to Israeli state television KAN, the aid delivery took place during the night. It was reported that the US also coordinated with the Syrian government for the delivery.<\/p>\n<p data-spacing=\"double\">The Israeli Ministry of Health announced in a statement the previous day that medical equipment and medicine would be sent to a hospital in Suwayda. Regarding the decision, Minister Uriel Buso stated, &#8220;Our brotherhood with the Druze community is well-known. But beyond that, we are bound by the covenant of life. We cannot remain silent when members of the community, inside or outside Israel, are in danger.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p data-spacing=\"double\">This development coincided with the implementation of the ceasefire declared on Saturday. Previous agreements had failed, and hundreds of people were killed in clashes that began between Druze fighters and Bedouin tribes, later expanding to involve the Islamist-led Syrian government, the Israeli army, and armed tribes from other parts of Syria.<\/p>\n<p data-spacing=\"double\"><strong>First aid convoy enters<\/strong><\/p>\n<p data-spacing=\"double\">According to the <em>Times of Israel<\/em>, Red Cross official Omar al-Malki <span style=\"color: #0000ff;\" data-darkreader-inline-color=\"\"><a style=\"color: #0000ff;\" href=\"https:\/\/www.timesofisrael.com\/israel-reportedly-delivers-medical-aid-to-syrias-sweida-as-calm-appears-to-return\/\" data-darkreader-inline-color=\"\">announced<\/a><\/span> on Sunday that the first humanitarian aid convoy had reached Suwayda, and that other convoys would follow. The convoy was reportedly sent in coordination with local Druze leaders and the Syrian government.<\/p>\n<p data-spacing=\"double\">However, the Syrian government announced that a Druze group had blocked the entry of its own aid convoy. Government forces also closed some roads to prevent Bedouin tribal fighters from reaching the city.<\/p>\n<p data-spacing=\"double\">The London-based Syrian Observatory for Human Rights (SOHR) reported that a &#8220;cautious calm&#8221; has prevailed in Suwayda since midnight. The organization announced that the death toll has risen to 1,120 since the clashes began. The dead include 427 Druze fighters, 298 Druze civilians, 354 government security personnel, and 21 Sunni Bedouins.<\/p>\n<p data-spacing=\"double\">Druze groups and SOHR accuse government forces of siding with the Bedouins and committing violations such as extrajudicial killings when they entered the city.<\/p>\n<p data-spacing=\"double\"><strong>\u2018City is calm for the first time in a week\u2019<\/strong><\/p>\n<p data-spacing=\"double\">Hanadi Ubayd, a 39-year-old doctor working in Suwayda, told AFP, &#8220;the city is this calm for the first time in a week.&#8221; The Ministry of Interior also announced that the city was &#8220;cleared of all tribal fighters&#8221; during the night and that clashes in the neighborhoods had stopped. The Observatory, however, announced that Druze fighters had regained control of the city on Saturday evening.<\/p>\n<p data-spacing=\"double\">Interim President Ahmed al-Shara declared a ceasefire in a statement on Saturday and promised to protect the country&#8217;s ethnic and religious minorities. A spokesman for the Syrian Council of Tribes and Clans also told <em>Al Jazeera<\/em> that the fighters had withdrawn from the city in line with al-Shara&#8217;s call and the terms of the agreement.<\/p>\n<p data-spacing=\"double\">It is reported that approximately 150,000 people live in the city of Suwayda, and that the population has been trapped in their homes for days without electricity, water, and food. An AFP photographer reported that the morgue at Suwayda&#8217;s main hospital was full and that bodies were being left on the ground outside the hospital. According to the UN Migration Agency, more than 128,000 people have been displaced in Suwayda province due to the clashes.<\/p>\n<p data-spacing=\"double\"><strong>Damascus administration evacuates Bedouins<\/strong><\/p>\n<p data-spacing=\"double\">Meanwhile, the Syrian government <span style=\"color: #0000ff;\" data-darkreader-inline-color=\"\"><a style=\"color: #0000ff;\" href=\"https:\/\/www.timesofisrael.com\/liveblog_entry\/syrian-government-begins-evacuating-bedouin-families-from-sweida-in-bid-to-uphold-truce\/\" data-darkreader-inline-color=\"\">has begun<\/a><\/span> evacuating Bedouin families who were displaced by Druze groups and trapped in the region.<\/p>\n<p data-spacing=\"double\">As part of the evacuation, buses carrying Bedouin families were accompanied by vehicles and ambulances from the Syrian Arab Red Crescent. Some families left the area in trucks with their belongings.<\/p>\n<p data-spacing=\"double\">Syrian authorities have not made an official statement about the details of the evacuation or its connection to a broader agreement.<\/p>\n<p data-spacing=\"double\">However, the London-based Syrian Observatory for Human Rights (SOHR) reported that as part of the agreement, Bedouin fighters agreed to release the Druze female hostages they were holding and to leave the province completely.<\/p>\n<p data-spacing=\"double\"><strong>Evacuation preparations for 1,500 Bedouins<\/strong><\/p>\n<p data-spacing=\"double\">The evacuation took place after Syrian state media reported the previous day that the government had sent buses to evacuate approximately 1,500 Bedouins from the city in coordination with some Suwayda officials.<\/p>\n<p data-spacing=\"double\">Syrian Interior Minister Ahmed al-Dalati told <em>SANA<\/em> that this initiative would also allow for the return of civilians who fled Suwayda due to the clashes. Al-Dalati said, &#8220;We have established a security cordon around Suwayda. This measure will secure the city and stop the clashes.
