{"id":10714,"date":"2025-08-01T15:53:44","date_gmt":"2025-08-01T12:53:44","guid":{"rendered":""},"modified":"2025-08-01T15:53:44","modified_gmt":"2025-08-01T12:53:44","slug":"mckinsey-report-finds-massive-ai-investment-is-failing-to-deliver-profits","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/harici.com.tr\/en\/mckinsey-report-finds-massive-ai-investment-is-failing-to-deliver-profits\/","title":{"rendered":"McKinsey report finds massive AI investment is failing to deliver profits"},"content":{"rendered":"<p data-spacing=\"double\">A comprehensive <span style=\"color: #0000ff;\" data-darkreader-inline-color=\"\"><a style=\"color: #0000ff;\" spellcheck=\"false\" href=\"https:\/\/www.mckinsey.com\/capabilities\/mckinsey-digital\/our-insights\/superagency-in-the-workplace-empowering-people-to-unlock-ais-full-potential-at-work#\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer nofollow\" data-darkreader-inline-color=\"\">report<\/a><\/span> titled\u00a0<em>Superagency in the Workplace<\/em>, published by management consulting giant McKinsey &amp; Company, has examined the latest state of the business world&#8217;s test with artificial intelligence (AI).<\/p>\n<p data-spacing=\"double\">According to the report, while nearly all companies are investing in artificial intelligence, only 1% of executives describe their own organizations as &#8220;mature&#8221; in their use of this technology.<\/p>\n<p data-spacing=\"double\">This situation indicates that despite a $4.4 trillion productivity potential, investments are largely being made without strategy and are not delivering the expected returns.<\/p>\n<p data-spacing=\"double\">The report emphasizes that artificial intelligence has a transformative potential comparable to the steam engine of the 19th century, while pointing out that companies are failing to manage this revolution.<\/p>\n<p data-spacing=\"double\">Although 92% of companies plan to increase their artificial intelligence investments in the next three years, the current situation is not bright. The report states, &#8220;The long-term potential of artificial intelligence is great, but short-term returns are uncertain,&#8221; noting that companies are facing serious challenges in fully integrating this technology into their workflows and achieving tangible business results.<\/p>\n<p data-spacing=\"double\"><strong>Investments are large, returns are disappointing<\/strong><\/p>\n<p data-spacing=\"double\">One of the most striking findings of the research is that investments in generative artificial intelligence have not yet yielded a tangible financial return.<\/p>\n<p data-spacing=\"double\">Only 19% of the senior executives surveyed report that their revenues have increased by more than 5%. While 39% see a modest increase of between 1% and 5%, the large majority of 36% report no change in their revenues.<\/p>\n<p data-spacing=\"double\">The situation is no different on the cost side. Only 23% of executives state that artificial intelligence has created any positive change in costs. These figures clearly show that many companies have not been able to move beyond the trial phase of AI and are struggling to secure a return on their investments.<\/p>\n<p data-spacing=\"double\">The report notes, &#8220;As companies move away from the initial excitement of generative artificial intelligence, executives face increasing pressure to achieve a return on investment from their deployments.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p data-spacing=\"double\"><strong>The real obstacle is not technology, but managers<\/strong><\/p>\n<p data-spacing=\"double\">McKinsey&#8217;s research emphasizes that the biggest obstacle to AI adoption is not employees, as is commonly believed, but managers.<\/p>\n<p data-spacing=\"double\">The report points out that the responsibility lies directly with top management, stating, &#8220;The biggest obstacle to success is not the employees who are ready, but the managers who are not moving fast enough.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p data-spacing=\"double\">The data supports this claim. Senior executives are 2.4 times more likely to cite employees&#8217; lack of readiness as an obstacle to AI adoption compared to their own administrative adaptation issues.<\/p>\n<p data-spacing=\"double\">In reality, however, the situation is the opposite. Employees use artificial intelligence far more than their managers imagine. According to the report, the proportion of employees using generative AI in more than 30% of their work is three times higher than what managers estimate.<\/p>\n<p data-spacing=\"double\">This disconnect shows how far managers are from the reality on the ground. Nearly half of the employees surveyed state that the best way to increase AI adoption is through formal training. However, 22% of employees say they receive very little or no support at all.<\/p>\n<p data-spacing=\"double\"><strong>No strategy, uncertain goals<\/strong><\/p>\n<p data-spacing=\"double\">The fact that the vast majority of companies have not matured in their approach to artificial intelligence is rooted in the lack of a strategic roadmap.<\/p>\n<p data-spacing=\"double\">Only 25% of the executives surveyed state that a comprehensive roadmap is in place, while 53% admit they are still working on a draft.<\/p>\n<p data-spacing=\"double\">The report states that this situation traps companies in a pilot project pitfall. Many pilot projects fail to scale due to poorly designed or implemented strategies or a lack of bold objectives.<\/p>\n<p data-spacing=\"double\">Professor Erik Brynjolfsson from Stanford University summarizes the situation in the report: &#8220;This is a time when you need to benefit from artificial intelligence and hope that your competitors are just dawdling and experimenting.&#8221;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>A comprehensive report titled\u00a0Superagency in the Workplace, published by management consulting giant McKinsey &amp; Company, has examined the latest state of the business world&#8217;s test with artificial intelligence (AI).
