According to a report released Monday by Senator Bernie Sanders, artificial intelligence and automation could eliminate nearly 100 million jobs in the US over the next decade.<\/p>\n

The analysis<\/span><\/a>, ironically based on ChatGPT findings, revealed that the new technology could eliminate jobs in a wide range of fields, including both white-collar and blue-collar roles.<\/p>\n

According to Sanders, a member of the Senate Committee on Health, Education, Labor, and Pensions, artificial intelligence, automation, and robotics could affect 40% of registered nurses, 47% of truck drivers, 64% of accountants, 65% of teaching assistants, and 89% of fast-food workers.<\/p>\n

“The agricultural revolution took place over thousands of years. The industrial revolution lasted more than a century. Artificial labor could reshape the economy in less than a decade,” the report states.<\/p>\n

The Trump administration has argued that the US must lead the world in artificial intelligence development, claiming that a Chinese victory in this race could pose a national security threat.<\/p>\n

On the other hand, Democrats in the Senate are demanding more regulation in the sector, along with worker protection measures such as a 32-hour work week and a “robot tax” on companies that switch to automation.<\/p>\n

Amazon and Walmart, two of the largest publicly traded companies in the US by revenue, have laid off tens of thousands of people as they have focused on automation efforts.<\/p>\n

In an article<\/a><\/span> published in\u00a0Fox News<\/em>\u00a0on Monday, Sanders warned, “The artificial intelligence and robotics technologies being developed by these multi-billionaires today will allow American companies to eliminate tens of millions of good-paying jobs, reduce labor costs, and increase their profits.”<\/p>\n

Arguing that AI is being used merely as a tool to further concentrate wealth, Sanders pointed to CEOs who have announced mass layoffs and cost-cutting measures while investing billions in automation.<\/p>\n

Sanders warned that workers in the manufacturing sector, as well as truck, bus, and taxi drivers, will suffer a devastating blow as automakers and tech startups increasingly accelerate their autonomous driving projects.<\/p>\n

In his article, Sanders stated:<\/p>\n

“Some of the richest people in the world, like Elon Musk, Larry Ellison, Mark Zuckerberg, and Jeff Bezos, are now investing hundreds of billions of dollars in these revolutionary technologies. Why is that? Is it because they want to improve the standard of living for the 60% of Americans who live paycheck to paycheck and struggle to afford groceries, healthcare, housing, and education? Perhaps. But I doubt it. I think it’s because investing in artificial intelligence and robotics technologies will exponentially increase their wealth and power.”<\/p>\n
