The US-backed Gaza Humanitarian Fund is seeking a new role after the war, according to a report<\/a><\/span> by the\u00a0Financial Times<\/em>\u00a0(FT<\/em>). The Gaza Humanitarian Fund (GHF), established with US and Israeli support, is in discussions with American and Israeli officials about potential roles it could assume in Gaza during the post-war period.<\/p>\n

The organization became a target of international criticism due to irregularities in its aid distribution model and the mistreatment of civilians.<\/p>\n

Israeli soldiers killed hundreds of Palestinians who were trying to get food from GHF centers.<\/p>\n

With the US-led ceasefire in effect, the GHF has suspended its food distribution in Gaza. A cash shortage is creating uncertainty about the organization’s future.<\/p>\n

Under the ceasefire, the humanitarian response on the ground is being conducted by the UN and the Red Crescent; the GHF has been excluded from the current process.<\/p>\n

Seeking a post-war role<\/strong><\/p>\n

Established in May with the support of the US and Israel, the GHF is striving to regain influence in the post-war era.<\/p>\n

According to the report, the GHF is maintaining contact with the multinational Civil-Military Coordination Center (CMCC), which was established in southern Israel during the Trump administration to stabilize post-war Gaza, and with senior US military officials.<\/p>\n

Israeli-American businessman Michael Eisenberg, who helped establish the GHF, is also reported to be participating in these talks.<\/p>\n

According to a report by\u00a0Channel 12<\/em>, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is preparing to appoint Eisenberg as his personal representative at the CMCC.<\/p>\n

Various scenarios on the table<\/strong><\/p>\n

The discussions are evaluating options such as the GHF operating food distribution centers in areas controlled by the Israeli army, managing logistics hubs for Gaza’s reconstruction, or supplying materials to other aid organizations.<\/p>\n

According to two sources, reopening GHF aid points in Israeli-controlled areas, referred to as the “Yellow Zone,” is also on the agenda.<\/p>\n

A former Israeli official stated, “In principle, this should have been over, but the people behind the GHF are going around telling US officials how successful they were. Their future is still uncertain.”<\/p>\n

The GHF announced that it has enough funds to last until late November or early December and has “temporarily suspended” its operations.<\/p>\n

The organization commented, “Our role may and likely will change according to the needs on the ground.”<\/p>\n

UG Solutions, the private security firm working with the GHF, is also looking for ways to continue its operations in Gaza. The GHF stated that it aims to resume aid distribution in the future, with loaded trucks at the Kerem Abu Salim border crossing and security companies waiting inside Israel ready to proceed.<\/p>\n

Sources closely monitoring the situation said that relations between GHF representatives and some UN officials have partially improved in recent weeks.<\/p>\n

However, the organization remains at the center of controversy due to its non-transparent financing and its distribution of aid through armed private companies.<\/p>\n

The UN and major aid organizations have refused to work with the GHF. The organization has been accused of serving a plan voiced by some Israeli leaders to “displace Palestinians to the south of Gaza” and of “using aid as a weapon.”<\/p>\n

Fatalities at GHF distribution points<\/strong><\/p>\n

When the GHF began its operations, Israel had cut off most of the aid to Gaza. This situation deepened the hunger in the region. GHF centers frequently became scenes of chaos and violence.<\/p>\n

Health officials in Gaza reported that approximately one thousand Palestinians trying to reach GHF points were killed by Israeli fire.<\/p>\n

The GHF, however, claimed that the shootings occurred outside its centers, that Hamas instigated chaos, and that its staff were attacked on at least two occasions.<\/p>\n

The Israeli army admitted to opening fire on crowds heading toward GHF points but denied intentionally targeting civilians.<\/p>\n

The army argued that the number of casualties was far lower than the figures provided by Gazan health officials.<\/p>\n
