Two weeks ago, Chief of the General Staff Eyal Zamir called for a \u201csystemic investigation\u201d into the vulnerabilities that led to the attack.<\/p>\n
The government, however, is dragging its feet on establishing a state commission of inquiry despite public pressure.<\/p>\n
Disciplinary penalties for senior commanders<\/strong><\/p>\n According to AFP, the list of dismissed generals includes three division commanders, one of whom was serving as the head of military intelligence at the time.<\/p>\n An army statement released yesterday emphasized that the three individuals bear personal responsibility for the failure to prevent the attack launched by Hamas from the Gaza Strip.<\/p>\n The dismissal decision was formalized after all three had already resigned from their posts.<\/p>\n Disciplinary penalties were also announced for the commanders of the naval and air forces. Additionally, similar measures were taken against four other generals and numerous senior officers.<\/p>\n A report prepared by a committee of experts appointed by Eyal Zamir was published earlier this month.
