Regional powers in the Middle East are mobilizing to coordinate a meeting between the United States and the Islamic Republic of Iran, following signals from Tehran that it is preparing for negotiations with the Trump administration in the coming days.<\/p>\n

Diplomats indicate that the talks are expected to take place in T\u00fcrkiye this Friday. The discussions will initially focus on Iran\u2019s nuclear program, while other contentious issues\u2014such as the country\u2019s ballistic missile capabilities or its support for regional militant groups\u2014are not expected to be addressed in the opening phase.<\/p>\n

T\u00fcrkiye, Qatar, Oman, and Egypt are acting in coordination to arrange the meeting, following an intensification of diplomatic efforts by regional states to prevent a full-scale war between the US and Iran. President Donald Trump has repeatedly threatened Iran and recently deployed a carrier strike group to the region.<\/p>\n

Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Esmaeil Baghaei stated on Monday that Tehran hopes “diplomatic efforts will reach a conclusion in the coming days.” Baghaei added that the specific timing, location, and the composition of the country\u2019s delegation are currently being finalized.<\/p>\n

Nonetheless, the statement is viewed as the clearest sign yet of Iran\u2019s readiness to engage with the US after weeks of aggressive rhetoric from both sides.<\/p>\n

The state-aligned Fars News Agency reported that Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian has “issued instructions” to initiate talks with Washington that are “strictly limited to the nuclear framework.”<\/p>\n

Trump, for his part, reshared a news post on his Truth Social network on Monday titled, “Trump open to Iran deal as US ramps up forces in the Middle East.”<\/p>\n

According to diplomats and analysts, the White House had previously demanded that Tehran agree to permanently and completely cease uranium enrichment, place limits on its ballistic missile program, and end its support for regional militant groups. A regional official suggested that non-nuclear issues might be addressed through a parallel negotiating track.<\/p>\n

The White House declined to comment.<\/p>\n

Iranian officials have stated<\/a><\/span> they are ready for negotiations only regarding the nuclear issue, provided the framework does not demand they simply “bow” to Trump\u2019s demands.<\/p>\n

Last week, Trump warned that time was “running out” for Iran to reach a deal. However, over the weekend, he remarked that Washington was engaging in “serious” negotiations with Tehran regarding its nuclear program.<\/p>\n

Trump also emphasized that Tehran must embrace an agreement that ensures “no nuclear weapons.”<\/p>\n

Assessments in Iranian media suggest that the potential talks could involve Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi and US Representative Steve Witkoff. Witkoff is expected to fly to Israel on Tuesday for consultations with Israeli officials.<\/p>\n

Araghchi and Witkoff conducted several rounds of indirect nuclear negotiations last year before Israel launched an attack on Iran in June; however, they have maintained an open channel of communication since then.<\/p>\n

Iranian officials remain deeply distrustful and have repeatedly emphasized that the country is prepared for war should the US or Israel attack.<\/p>\n

Major General Abdolrahim Mousavi, Commander-in-Chief of the Islamic Republic of Iran Army, stated that Iran\u2019s defense doctrine has strengthened following the June war, adding that forces are ready to respond “rapidly and decisively.”<\/p>\n
