{"id":13468,"date":"2026-02-05T14:55:16","date_gmt":"2026-02-05T11:55:16","guid":{"rendered":""},"modified":"2026-02-05T14:55:16","modified_gmt":"2026-02-05T11:55:16","slug":"turkiye-taps-ernst-young-to-lead-multi-billion-dollar-bridge-and-highway-privatization","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/harici.com.tr\/en\/turkiye-taps-ernst-young-to-lead-multi-billion-dollar-bridge-and-highway-privatization\/","title":{"rendered":"T\u00fcrkiye taps Ernst &#038; Young to lead multi-billion-dollar bridge and highway privatization"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>T\u00fcrkiye has appointed Ernst &amp; Young LLP (EY) to oversee the multi-billion-dollar privatization of Istanbul\u2019s two iconic Bosphorus bridges and a network of national highways, according to sources familiar with the matter.<\/p>\n<p>The London-based firm will advise the government on the sale of operating rights for the 15 July Martyrs and Fatih Sultan Mehmet bridges\u2014critical infrastructure linking Istanbul\u2019s European and Asian sides\u2014alongside at least nine toll highways, Bloomberg <span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><a style=\"color: #0000ff;\" href=\"https:\/\/www.bloomberg.com\/news\/articles\/2026-02-05\/turkey-said-to-hire-ey-for-landmark-bridge-privatization-deal\">reported<\/a><\/span>.<\/p>\n<p>Sources added that Canada-based BTY Group has been selected as the technical advisor for the divestment, with the official tender process expected to launch later this year.<\/p>\n<p>A 2012 attempt to privatize both bridges and 2,000 kilometers of highway drew a peak bid of $5.7 billion.<\/p>\n<p>However, that process collapsed after then-Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdo\u011fan characterized any sale under $7 billion as &#8220;treason.&#8221; The government is now signaling that it expects new offers to significantly exceed that previous threshold.<\/p>\n<p>Some details regarding the advisory appointments were previously disclosed by Mergermarket.<\/p>\n<p>In July, Transport Minister Abdulkadir Uralo\u011flu noted that approximately 430,000 vehicles cross the two bridges daily.
