In the ongoing military operations conducted by Israel in the Gaza Strip since October 2023, the use of US-made thermal and thermobaric munitions has reportedly resulted in the deaths of thousands of Palestinians, leaving no physical remains behind.<\/p>\n

According to an investigation published<\/a><\/span> by Al Jazeera, 2,842 Palestinians have perished due to these thermal munitions, which are supplied by the US and subject to restrictions under international law.<\/p>\n

The research reveals that the intense effects of these weapons cause the complete destruction of victims’ bodies. In many instances, the only evidence remaining at the scene consists of bloodstains and microscopic tissue fragments.<\/p>\n

These munitions, often referred to as aerosol or vacuum bombs, are capable of generating temperatures exceeding 3,500\u00b0C at the moment of detonation.<\/p>\n

Experts emphasize that this extraordinary heat is sufficient to reduce a human body to ash within seconds.<\/p>\n

Mahmoud Basal, the spokesperson for the Gaza Civil Defense, stated that rescue teams operating in debris zones have been forced to utilize an “elimination method” to identify missing individuals.<\/p>\n

Basal explained that the number of people present in targeted buildings is verified through information provided by families and then cross-referenced with the recovered remains. Regarding the process, Basal stated:<\/p>\n

“If a family declares that five people were in the house, and despite all our searches, we can only find three complete bodies\u2014leaving only bloodstains and small biological fragments elsewhere\u2014we consider the other two individuals to have been evaporated.”<\/p>\n

The report further noted that the chemical composition of the bombs causes the human body to vanish within seconds.<\/p>\n

The investigation indicates that the source of this extreme heat is “tritonal,” an explosive composed of a mixture of TNT and aluminum powder commonly used in US-made bombs.<\/p>\n

This mixture is notably found in the MK-84 series of munitions. Munir al-Bursh, an official from the Gaza Ministry of Health, described the physical process:<\/p>\n

“Water boils at 100 degrees. When a body is exposed to energy exceeding 3,000 degrees and high pressure, the fluids in the body boil instantly; tissues evaporate and turn to ash.”<\/p>\n

Data documents that the US-made BLU-109 bunker buster bomb led to the total disappearance of 22 Palestinians in the al-Mawasi region of southern Gaza in September 2024.<\/p>\n

Similarly, in August 2024, an attack on the al-Tabiin school in Gaza City involving the US-made GBU-39 bomb yielded comparable results.<\/p>\n

A witness who survived the strike recounted: “When I entered the mosque, there were only pieces of flesh and blood on the ground. We found no trace of my son, Saad; there wasn’t even a body to bury.”<\/p>\n

The Euro-Med Human Rights Monitor issued a report in April 2024 calling for an international investigation into allegations regarding Israel\u2019s use of illegal thermal weapons.<\/p>\n

The organization noted that these munitions have been utilized not only in Gaza but also in Lebanon, citing an August 2024 attack on the Mayfadoun area of Nabatieh as a concrete example.<\/p>\n

Furthermore, allegations remain on the agenda regarding Israel\u2019s use of munitions containing depleted uranium in certain strikes against Iran, Lebanon, and Syria.<\/p>\n

Sources familiar with the matter emphasize that the long-term environmental and biological impacts of such weaponry must be scrutinized by international inspectors.<\/p>\n
