Greek shipping giants have secretly transported oil, coal, and military cargo to Israel, according to a report by the No Harbour for Genocide campaign published<\/a><\/span> by Middle East Eye (MEE) on April 2.<\/p>\n

The investigation reveals that at least 57 clandestine shipments of crude oil reached Israeli ports between May 2024 and December 2025, coinciding with Israel\u2019s military operations against Palestinians in Gaza.<\/p>\n

These shipments, totaling approximately 47 million barrels of oil, were reportedly routed through T\u00fcrkiye. To bypass the embargo imposed by Ankara, the vessels disabled their tracking systems and provided false destination coordinates.<\/p>\n

Vessels disappeared in the Mediterranean by disabling tracking systems<\/strong><\/p>\n

Ships departing from T\u00fcrkiye\u2019s Ceyhan Port frequently declared Port Said or Damietta in Egypt as their destinations. Once at sea, they deactivated their Automatic Identification Systems (AIS) to vanish from tracking monitors in the Mediterranean. The report notes that these vessels typically reappeared on radar only after docking at Israeli ports, primarily in Ashkelon.<\/p>\n

Satellite imagery reviewed by MEE confirmed the presence of these vessels in the region during the periods when their signals were severed.<\/p>\n

Leading Greek shipping firms played key roles in shipments<\/strong><\/p>\n

A significant portion of these vessels is operated by Kyklades Maritime Corporation and Thenamaris Ships Management, firms linked to the prominent Alafouzos and Martinos families.<\/p>\n

According to the report, both companies declined to comment on the findings. In 2025, at least 13 shipments were identified carrying military cargo, including ammunition and machine gun components utilized by Elbit Systems. The report states that vessels operated by Greek companies were involved in several of these deliveries.<\/p>\n

The investigation also detailed coal shipments. Between October 2023 and February 2026, eight secret shipments of coal totaling 751,000 tonnes were transported from South Africa using similar deceptive tactics.<\/p>\n

“Shipowners are turning off tracking systems, misreporting destinations, and putting seafarers at risk; they do all this for profit,” said Ana Sanchez, speaking on behalf of the campaign. “We know who they are, we know what they are doing, and now everyone knows.”<\/p>\n

BTC pipeline sits at the center of Israel\u2019s energy network<\/strong><\/p>\n

The report indicates that oil transported via the Baku\u2013Tbilisi\u2013Ceyhan (BTC) pipeline is refined into fuel for use by the Israeli military.<\/p>\n

Writing for The Cradle, Harici editor Erman \u00c7ete noted<\/a><\/span> that Israel\u2019s combat capacity is sustained by a global energy network with the BTC pipeline at its core. \u00c7ete observed that this supply chain is bolstered by international legal agreements and major energy corporations. Furthermore, the flow of oil continues from various nations, including some that publicly criticize Tel Aviv. This situation, according to \u00c7ete, points to a broader framework of shared responsibility and support at both economic and political levels.<\/p>\n
