Israel has launched an air strike in Lebanon on a vehicle carrying the general of the Al Aqsa Martyrs’ Brigades, the armed wing of the Palestinian Fatah movement.

An Israeli army drone struck a vehicle in the town of Sayda in southern Lebanon. Khalil Makdah, one of the generals of the Palestinian National Liberation Movement (Fatah), was killed in the attack, while the vehicle was reduced to ashes. Those injured in the attack were taken to nearby hospitals.

Makdah’s brother, commander Munir Makdah, said in a statement, “We are on the road to victory or martyrdom. Murder makes us stronger. Martyrdom is an honour. The resistance is determined to stay in the field”.

Khalil Makdah was the brother of Munir Makdah, a senior Fatah official accused by Israel of working for years with Hezbollah and the Revolutionary Guards to organise attacks against Israel.

In a joint statement on the attack, the IDF and Shin Bet claimed that the Makdah brothers had worked with the Revolutionary Guards in Lebanon to transfer money and weapons to terror cells in the West Bank.

“The assassination of a Fatah official is further proof that Israel wants to ignite a full-scale war in the region,” Tawfiq Tirawi, a member of Fatah’s central committee, told AFP.
