Ibrahim Kalın, Head of the Turkish National Intelligence Organization (MIT), met with Mohammed Darwish, Chairman of the Hamas Shura Council, and his accompanying delegation on Saturday, May 18.

According to information from security sources reported by AA, the meeting addressed the delivery of humanitarian aid to Gaza, which remains under Israeli blockade, and the coordination of international efforts in this regard.

The current status of initiatives aimed at halting Israel’s actions in Gaza and achieving a permanent, comprehensive ceasefire was also evaluated during the meeting.

The necessity of adopting a common stance against Israel’s plans to displace the people of Gaza was emphasized.

It was stated that Türkiye would continue to stand by the people of Gaza, who have demonstrated great determination and patience in defending their land despite Israel’s attacks targeting civilians and hunger tactics aimed at forced displacement.

Israel’s expansionist and occupation policies were rejected, and it was expressed that any new attempts at occupation or annexation would be strongly opposed.

Furthermore, it was stressed that Türkiye’s support for all international efforts towards a permanent ceasefire would continue.

Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan also held a meeting with Darwish and the delegation in Ankara on the same day.

According to information from Turkish diplomatic sources, efforts to achieve a ceasefire in Gaza were discussed during the meeting.

It was highlighted that Israel is attempting to condemn the Palestinian people to starvation by preventing the entry of humanitarian aid, and it was emphasized that the international community should increase its efforts to deliver aid to the region.

Attempts to displace Palestinians were also stated to be unacceptable.

Additionally, the situation in the West Bank was discussed during the meeting. It was noted that Israel’s actions to make the occupation permanent have reached a level that threatens regional peace.

Efforts towards reconciliation among Palestinian groups were also among the topics discussed.

Minister Fidan emphasized the importance of unity among Palestinians and stated that Türkiye is ready to contribute to these efforts in every way possible.
